When a first for the Australian mainland arrives what do you do? Well twitch it of course!

This species breeds in parts of Asia and heads south for the northern winter but only normally as far as India and the Philippines or the like. This one has either overshot its holiday destination or set off back the wrong way after the break and is now asking for directions in Alice Springs.

So, a quick flight and taxi ride had me sitting in a suburban backyard and within twelve minutes was viewing this amazing species. AWESOME!
